There's something Marcus Zusak wrote in "The Book Thief" which describes my sentiments perfectly:
"Sometimes you read a book so special that you want to carry it around with you for months after you've finished just to stay near it."
That´s it. That's Anna for me.
When I was invited to read and review Anna and the French Kiss, by Stephanie Perkins, I was delighted. When I finished reading it, I felt… what did I feel, exactly? Happy? Warm? Hopeful? Satisfied? Seventeen again? All those and certainly quite a few of those good adjectives you can think of, too.
The book is about a girl who is sent to study in Paris against her will. Of course that would a bad thing for Anna. No teenager enjoys having other makind decisions for them,
Wrong.
Anna soon meets the most perfect boy in the world, Étienne, and he shows her that life is so much more than the things we’re used to considering important. Because things are not important. People are. Life is all about friendship. It’s about trying new things. It’s about being brave. And it’s about caring.
Anna and the French Kiss is a love story, in the pure sense of the world “love”. No appellations required. The characters are sarcastic, funny, honest, lovable, and struggle with issues that we all can identify with. The narrative is hilarious (even Harry Potter is the victim of a joke) and easy to read. You start a chapter, and you don’t want to stop until you reach the last page.
Go read it too!
